CINÉMATHÈQUE DE TANGER

Yto Barrada founded the non-profit Cinémathèque de Tanger (CDT) in 2006. Tangier’s first and only repertory cinema and archive, the Cinémathèque operates out of a restored 1930s theatre known as the Cinema Rif, located in one of the city’s main squares.

CDT is North Africa's first art house cinema and film archive. It offers screenings of contemporary and classic films from over 20 countries, as well as workshops, masterclasses, a café, and an archive.

DAR BELLARJ

The Dar Bellarj Foundation is a cultural center dedicated to enhancing Morocco's architectural and artistic heritage, as well as the country's contemporary culture. The Foundation has 4 main aims: strengthening Morocco's heritage; supporting artistic creation and arts and crafts; research; transmission.

The foundation has a rich program and an inclusive and community educational approach. Open to all and housed in a traditional Riad, this is a meeting place for research and education.

DARNA

DARNA provides safe houses for women and children in Tangier. DARNA means “Our House” in Arabic, which reflects the values of the Association: welcoming, protecting, training, educating, and sharing.

DARNA serves the public interest through listening to children, mothers and families.

DARNA has a space where women can learn to read and write, and access training, which helps them develop greater financial independence. They can also access income-generating skills training and learn more about their rights.

For children, they have community centers and provide books, magazines, musical instruments, workshops and machinery, materials recycling, scrap, wood waste, paper and cardboard. These are all focused on helping children to imagine, realise, experiment, cope, and build confidence.

EDUCATION FOR ALL (EFA)

Education For All (EFA) was established to help provide secondary education for girls from the High Atlas mountain region.

EFA builds and runs high-quality boarding houses for girls from 12–18. Everything is provided for free. They offer 3 nutritious meals a day, hot showers, cosy beds, access to computers, study support via an international volunteer programme and dedicated, local housemothers.

The overall environment makes it easy for the girls to settle in and thrive in their studies. EFA has an average of 90% pass rate across all years and now have 50 EFA girls enrolled at university.

EVERYTOWN

Everytown is the largest gun violence prevention organization in America.

Everytown is a movement of nearly 10 million mayors, teachers, survivors, gun owners, students, and everyday Americans on a mission to end gun violence and save lives.

FONDATION ZAKOURA

Fondation Zakoura has the largest nongovernmental network of schools in rural areas of Morocco.

At the time of our sale, the foundation is fundraising for a new, free pre-school program for children in rural parts of the country. This program will not only serve up to 75 children, but will also include education for mothers.

INSAF

INSAF fights against the social exclusion of single mothers and protects abandoned children, striving for a society that guarantees rights for every woman and child in a dignified environment. Since extra-marital sex is illegal in Morocco, many babies get abandoned or left to die at birth.

The Casablanca-based NGO supports the mothers with legal, medical and psychological assistance, as well as shelter, and helps find jobs for pregnant women. It also seeks to ensure girls attend school rather than work as child domestic workers.
